- In what human relationship could you expect conflict this week? How can you prepare to handle it – to disarm it – to prevent it?

Theme: How the church can celebrate holiness.
- What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear the phrase “church discipline”?
- Read Luke 15:11-32 regarding the prodigal son.
- Read Exodus 12 for the story of the Passover mentioned in 1 Corinthians 5:7-8.
- Read 1 Corinthians 5:11. Why do you think many people call themselves Christians, but seem to live in many ways like a non-christian?

Theme: Recognize the pride that divides the church.
- Have you known (or been) a leader who forgets how 1 Cor 4:1-2 describes leaders? What words are used?
- What is the warning light that should go off in your mind when you read 1 Corinthians 4:4?
- How can Paul tell others to imitate him? (1 Cor 4:15-17)
- Work on answering the question in 1 Cor 4:7. Then read v.8 and ask yourself if you think you have arrived in some area of the christian life.

- Read 1 Corinthians 2:1-4 and then read 2 Corinthians 10:3-6. What is a common theme or word?
- In what way are you tempted to lean on human wisdom?
- How is God’s eternal decree (2 Corinthians 2:7) for your glory? Look at 2 Corinthians 3:18 and Romans 8:29-30.
- Look ahead to our next study in 1 Corinthians 3:1-4. Are these believers being described, or unbelievers?

Theme: Consider your calling, and then boast in Jesus Christ.
Consider your calling - how God called you to be in Christ Jesus, so that you will boast in Jesus.
I will not boast in anything - no gift, no power no wisdom - but I will boast in Jesus Christ, his death and resurrection.

- What do you make of the phrase in 1 Corinthians 1:18 “us who are being saved”? How would you explain this to someone?
- What are some ways that verse 19 might be true – that God “will destroy the wisdom of the wise”?
- We sang and studied the power of the cross on Sunday. How can this power be evident in your life this week?

Theme: Serving others as Christ served you
- Read Matthew 20:17-28 and remember the context of v.17-19, since it helps paint the selfishness of the ensuing bickering. Do you ever lose sight of God's agenda in pursuit of your own?
- Philippians 2:3 addresses our motives. What does humility enable us to do in this verse?
- Who do you have a hard time serving? Why so?

Theme: The truest unity is found in the clearest gospel.
- Read 1 Corinthians 1:10 regarding ‘divisions’. You see the same word in Matthew 9:16, John 7:43, and John 9:16.
- What ‘divisions/conflicts’ have you witnessed in the local church?
- Also in v.10 we see the idea of being ‘united’. Find this same word in both Matthew 4:21 and 1 Thessalonians 3:10

- Compare 1 Corinthians 1:5 "enriched" with 2 Corinthians 8:9.

- 1 Corinthians 1:8 speaks of being "guiltless". See this theme in Romans 8:31-34 and Jude 24-25.
