  • A commander revealed
  • In submission, worship God.
  • The Commander's position demands our worship
  • The Commander's presence should stir our worship

Conclusion: The hope of a fresh start today rests in Christ

  • Our Circumcision — Colossians 2:11-15

  • Our Commander — 2 Corinthians 2:14

What Exactly Are We Remembering?

Series: Progress as Promised

Remember that...

  1. God is accomplishing his purpose of advancing his kingdom
    • "Advancing the kingdom" is the language of war.
    • The names change, but the story is the same.
  2. God is keeping his promise of leading you home.
    • The date marks both the leading out and the leading into.
    • The east border marks the reality of entering the Promised Land.
  3. God is gathering worshippers by displaying his glory.
    • Glory that is seen in his power.
    • Glory that results in our fear.

Ready to be Used by God

Text: Joshua 1:1

We learn from the example of Joshua that we are to be ready at any time to be used by God.


  1. It's God's business to determine how he uses us in His kingdom
  2. It is our business to be ready

  1. Be ready to advance God's plan
  2. Be ready to serve God's people
  3. Be ready to trust God's promise

The Responsibility to Obey

Text: Deuteronomy 30:11-20

See four observations that drive home the responsibility we have to obey.

  1. This responsibility to obey is seen in an excuse to eliminate
  2. This responsibility to obey is seen in a truth to believe
