1. Challenge the church to think
   • "put these things before the brothers"
2. Shun the distraction of the sensational
   • "Have nothing to do with irreverent, silly myths."
3. Promote personal, spiritual discipline
   • "Rather train yourself for godliness"
4. Prioritize God's Word in the life of the church
   • "devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to exhortation, to teaching."
   • "Do not neglect the gift you have"
5. Exemplify a life of gospel transformation
   • "Practice these things, immerse yourself in them"
6. Persevere in the Word, and by the Word
   • "Persist in this"
