One: Why rejected?

  • Rejected, through no fault of your own
  • Rejected, because of another's sin
  • Rejected, due to your belief in God's plan

Two: The Pain of Rejection

  • Rejection may not be wanted.
  • Rejection may not be understood.

Three: Rejection in the Gospel Story

  • John 1:11 - his own people did not receive him
  • Isaiah 53:3 - he was despised and rejected by men

Four: How is God at work in rejection?

  • God is loving you with full acceptance.
  • God is weaning you from the desire for man's approval.
  • God is calling you to believe that he is enough.
  • God is shaping you to be more like Christ.

  • A reasonable expectation

Four: You are not continually transforming with God's truth.

  • A process of metamorphosis

  • It should be orthodox.
  • It should be meaningful.
  • It should be clear.

Test Two: Is it God-centered?

  • God should be the subject and the object of our worship.
  • Personal pronouns may be express our needs or response.

Test Three: Is it excellent?

  • It should be non-distracting.
  • It should be fitting.
  • It should have musical quality.

Test Four: Is it congregational?

  • It should celebrate the human voice.
  • It should celebrate participation.
